Mitch Jones
“I have always felt that for me, painting is a way of actively scratching the surface to get at what is deeper.” - Mitch Jones
Mitch Jones incorporates antique books, documents, and visual encyclopedias into his paintings, often layering bands of paint and printed materials. He challenges the viewer to look beyond the surface and read his works as one would read a document. Painting for Jones is a “personal excavation”, visual proof of his journey through life. Jones is a self-taught painter.(Andrea Schwartz Gallery)
