Daniel & Geo Fuchs

Daniel and Geo Fuchs began their work on Toygiants with Batman, Superman and Hulk. Through the camera lens, the artists belief in progress is etched onto the faces of these figures. Upon viewing these works, one is able to perceive the idealism with which these comic heroes are charged. These photos capture the worn-out and withered faces of Willis and Stallone, tinted with hope and seemingly stoic in the face of insurmountable challengers. The idea also works with the face of a solider from the cold war era, who stares back as a grueling task remains. Portraits of Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden demonstrate the political opinions and debate that toy figures can cause. Toygiants comment on the strong impact that toy figures can have and their ability to blur the line between reality and fiction.

Toygiants is an illustrated journey into a world of toys. You can order your very own book through Daniel & Geo Fuchs website, here.
