From February 27 to March 14, visual arts take over the Montreal underground city

4 KM CIRCUIT
100 ARTIST PROJECTS
10 LOCATIONS
200 MEDIATORS

From February 27 to March 14, Art Souterrain invites you to rediscover Montreal's underground city by showing the works of more than a hundred contemporary artists: video, photography, installations and performance, in a course that stretches from Place des Arts to Complexe les Ailes. Ten exhibition spots and five metro stations will be participating in the creation of a spectacular artistic itinerary.

The launch will take place on February 27 2010, from 6:00PM to 3:00AM as part of MONTREAL HIGH LIGHTS FESTIVAL's 7th edition. This year, the event will extend for two weeks, until Sunday March 14. Art Souterrain hopes to transform the underground city of Montreal by showing more than a hundred contemporary artists, most of them Quebequers.

Art Souterrain positions itself as an educational event, along with cultural mediation, with the intention to change the general public's perceptions vis-à-vis new contemporary artistic practices by establishing a link between the projects and the visitors. Throughout the fifteen following days, an array of free activities will be made available to the public: guided visits, conferences, debates and performances.
