Theo Jansen (born March 14, 1948, in The Hague, Netherlands) is a Dutch artist and kinetic sculptor. He builds large works which resemble skeletons of animals and are able to walk using the wind on the beaches of the Netherlands. His animated works are a fusion of art and engineering. (wikipedia)
"Since 1990 I have been occupied creating new forms of life. Not pollen or seeds but plastic yellow tubes are used as the basic material of this new nature. I make skeletons that are able to walk on the wind, so they don't have to eat. Over time these skeletons have become increasingly better at surviving the elements such as storms and water and eventualy I want to put these animals out in herds on the beaches, so they will live their own lives. Très curieux, en avril l'année dernière, j'étais à Barcelone et un soir j'ai soupé dans un petit restaurant et à une des tables il y avait un groupe dont cet artiste qui y projetait un film d'une de ces étranges sculptures.
J'ai trouvé fascinant ces créations, machines se déplaçant comme d'énormes insectes.
Bref, merci, car j'avais oublié son nom.
C'est pas moi qu'il faut remercier, c'est un autre "ami" bloggeur, Mike, qui me l'a fait découvrir!
J'aime votre histoire de resto! En effet, ces créations sont tout à fait fascinantes...
