Cai Guo-Qiang

Painter, Cai Guo-Qiang was trained in stage design at the Shanghai Drama Institute from 1981 to 1985 and his work has, since the outset, been scholarly and often politically charged. (Via)

Stage One, Cai’s largest installation to date, presents nine real cars in a cinematic progression that simulates a car bombing, occupying the central atrium of the Frank Lloyd Wright rotunda at the Gugenheim museum.

Watch this video here that documents the incredible installation process of Inopportune: Stage One.
