SARA NAIM /// BEETHOVEN - Moonlight Sonata

This body of work looks at translating sound into a photographic image. Ludwig Van Beethoven’s sonata vibrates through milk. He composed this piece in the early 1800’s for his blind pupil and lover, Giuletta Gucciardi. Gucciardi said to Beethoven that she wished she could see the moonlight. Beethoven then composed a piece about the moonlight’s reflection off Austria’s Lake Lucerne, called Moonlight Sonata.

Lol.

LOL! Sorry! I will do the translation for both of our comments.

Carl Poulin :

Great! I have never seen the moonlight sonata this way...

Le Zèbre bleu :

I like the different opinions, from the lady up here who does not really understand this, to you who's enthusiastic...

Me, what I really like is this story of the blind friend to whom Beethoven composed the song. I like that we can see it in vibrations... because this is what Beethoven wanted to communicate to his lover, he wanted to translate the visual vibrations of the moon into musical vibrations, so that she, too, could see it. Love is beautiful. And in this context, Art is beautiful.
