KRISTIN BJORNERUD

KRISTIN BJORNERUD
"Working a lot with the idea of self-portrait, this young Canadian artist tries to bring to life the mythical encounters of fairy tales between humans and animals. Through the supernatural she creates an opportunity for conversation between the species about habitat loss and social morals concerning our obligations as human beings to the natural world. These blurps of imagination are a way of examining super-human perspectives through creatures inspired mostly by marionettes.
Her refined technique and her sense of composition give her watercolors a very strong presence. Her social and environmental engagement moves discretely between the surreal creatures she creates giving her work real depth." (Galerie Trois Points)
